How do I get a program to show up in the  select programs window so I can pull it into the Program quick launch screen?

Is the program listed in "all programs"? If not, you can create a shortcut and add it to windows/start menu/programs folder.

from m2d simply go to the programs tab> tap any blank space (usually indicated by a plus"+" icon> select the program from the list. simple as that.
